Sts James, Cornelius & Cyprian is committed to welcoming parents and assisting them in their role as the primary educators of faith for their children. In response to this commitment, Sts JCC offers a baptismal process for parents and godparents that explains the Sacrament of baptism and their role in raising their child Catholic.
To begin the process, call the parish office at 517.676.9111. When considering baptizing your child into the Roman Catholic Church, it is presumed that you, as parents, are current and actively participating in the Catholic Faith as practicing registered members of Sts JCC. You must attend a Baptism Prep class. These are held with Deacon Chuong either at St James or by Zoom. Click here for a Baptism registration form.
Celebration of the Sacrament of Baptism, in COVID-19 times, are privately celebrated by Fr Kusi or the Deacon. Baptisms are typically not celebrated during Lent except in special circumstances.
One Godparent must be Catholic. Godparents not participating, registered members of Sts JCC verification must be received from the parish in which they are participating and registered. A Godparent must be at least 16 years of age and have received the Sacrament of Confirmation. Those 18 or older should be registered in their own name (not with parents.) This verification must be received BEFORE baptism can be scheduled. Click here to see the requirements for Godparents
